Medicine Is Science And Art

Medicine is something of a lost art—bringing technological trends, external data and pharmaceuticals into the mix. These are important tools and Teri’s program takes full advantage of them when necessary. But with over twenty years experience in the field, Teri’s approach helps clients realize that medicine is every bit an art as it is a science.

In the age of information, it takes an artist to sift through heaps of media and research to determine what is valid. It takes an artist to synthesize various sources of data—lab results, body composition, exercise, dietary intake, interpret them and formulate a course of action.

It takes an artist to take into account all of the life events that may have brought a client to their present condition. And it takes an artist to make a client comfortable enough to uncover and share those life events and other factors that may be impeding their health.

Why Most Nutrition Plans Fail

The reason most nutrition plans fail is the same reason traditional western medicine has failed to treat most chronic conditions, including weight gain. Tunnel vision. Modern medicine has veered off course into reductionist science, meaning, it treats the human body like a car: one cause, one effect. Bad fuel pump? Replace it! Have asthma? Here’s an inhaler! Got eczema? Here’s a steroid cream! Gaining weight? Let’s count calories!

There is certainly research to support these treatments but they are not long term solutions. We cover the problem with a band-aid and while symptoms may get better, we never function on all cylinders and become indefinitely dependent on medication.

A Plan That Works

Total Body Burden

First we must lift as many burdens from the body as possible. Any insult to the body causes an electrical disruption causing the release of stress hormone. When persistent, stress hormone will manifest itself as a physical condition or illness including chronic fatigue, hay fever, asthma, eczema, joint pain, GI distress, anxiety, brain fog, and cognitive disorders.

When an electrical disturbance persists, it leads to more serious manifestations such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Causes of these conditions are biocumulative. Teri’s program helps minimize these burdens.

The Big Picture

Teri works with clients to tailor a food and exercise plan to meet specific needs and remove toxic sludge from their environments.

Other plans fail when we narrow in on one specific aspect of health. If we track macronutrients but consume corn fed animals, we won’t get far. If we exercise but overtrain or neglect a stretching routine, we may be more prone to injury. If we are meticulous with diet but use a shampoo with parabens, we might stall out.

If we can keep track of the big picture—covering all our bases and remaining consistent then good things will happen!

Smarter Not Harder

It’s important to track food quality like a hawk—especially in today’s toxic food world. Part of Teri’s program includes keeping meticulous dietary records on each client—documentation makes a difference and we will see results.

Simply taking supplements may not help the problem. Understanding the type and quality of supplements is valuable so we don’t end up causing more harm than good. Teri offers lab testing which pinpoints exact supplemental needs.

Movement is almost always good—except for when you overdo it. Overtraining can wreak hormonal havoc on the body. Teri’s program looks at environmental and genetic issues that may have major implications on overall health.

All Roads Lead To Electricity

We are all electrical beings and life depends on voltage. For a visual representation see infographic1. Every cell in the body carries an electrical charge. Since it is possible to measure the voltage of a living being, it is not surprising that there is no measurable voltage coming off of a dead body. The chi, prana, the force…has left the body.

Electrons carry a negative charge. Cells need a minimum of -20 mV to maintain themselves. If the body has injuries or pathogens, the cells require a greater charge of -50 mV to repair, heal, or defend themselves. The body needs a minimum of -50 mV to make new cells. The more electrons in the body, the higher the voltage, the better the body’s overall health.

So how do we increase voltage? Teri’s program teaches us to know which foods and supplements to take and which to avoid. She guides us in following specific exercise recommendations and encouraging certain healing modalities like infrared therapy, lymphatic massage, acupuncture, and sunlight exposure.
